Michael Edward Bell: Police brutality facts

Michael Edward Bell was a 21 year old man who was unarmed when fatally shot by Kenosha, Wisconsin police officers in the head. His mother and sister witnessed most of the altercation and also the shooting right in front of their faces, right outside of their house. Hear Michael’s sister’s version of the story here .

Less than a year after this horrific incident, participating officers Erich R. Strausbaugh, Erich R. Weidner and Albert B. Gonzalez were cited for performing within the realm of duty and showing great courage, ability and devotion to public service.

Tony McNulty says British police can use Tasers on children

Until now, Tasers – which emit a 50,000-volt electric shock – have been used only by specialist officers as a “non lethal” alternative to firearms.
However, they can now be used against all potentially violent offenders even if they are unarmed.
It is the decision not to ban their use against minors that is likely to raise serious concerns.
Home Office Police Minister Tony McNulty said medical assessments had confirmed the risk of death or serious injury from Tasers was “low”.
But he failed to mention Government advisers had also warned of a potential risk to children.

Lorain, OH police arrest former Taser victim on new charges

Fresh wounds for a Lorain, OH resident and former Taser victim. A judge issued a protective order that bars her from contact with her 6 year old daughter.

In November, Fretter was stunned with a Taser while in handcuffs in the Sheffield Police Department booking room after being picked up for drunken driving. The officer who fired the Taser, Edward Long, resigned, and charges were dropped against Fretter in exchange for her promise to not sue the village.

Lorain, Ohio police arrest 9, Taser 1

What was described by the local media as a “riot” resulted in the arrests of 9 bar patrons on the last day of July. When the first officers on the scene had to put up with an obnoxious crowd, they called for backup and 10 more officers arrived on the scene. An assault against a bar patron with a Taser took place during the ordeal that ended with 9 customers in handcuffs.

Banned in Boston: Stop Snitchin T-shirts

Boston Mayor Thomas M Menino has declared war on t-shirts. Specifically, he’s all done with tolerating shirts that say “Stop Snitchin’.” They are popular now amongst those suspected of constituting the criminal element in town.

Mayor Menino has announced that he’s sending city Inspectional Services Division officials to confiscate such apparel. “We are going into every retail store that sells the shirts and remove them” says Mayor Menino, with of course no attempt at any pretense of a legal justification for the obvious violations of the US Constitution.

US Reps. Clay of Missouri and Schakowsky of Illinois cosponsor H.R. 333
